For over 15 years, I have served as the lead architect, builder, and administrator of Jobsite Theater’s 400+ page website, designing and governing the company’s primary digital platform. The site functions as both a storytelling archive and institutional revenue hub, integrating productions, artist histories, ticketing, and donor engagement within a unified publishing system.
The Challenge
The organization required a site capable of supporting rotating seasonal productions, long-term archival content, commerce, and brand expression, all within a maintainable framework for a small internal team.
The archive spans more than two decades of productions, with content dating back to the early 2000’s. As the body of work grew, the opportunity was to formalize the site’s structure, strengthen relational content models, and ensure long-term scalability without compromising artistic identity.
Systems Architecture & Implementation
- Designed, wireframed, and hand-built a scalable CMS architecture, structuring 400+ pages and configuring reusable content models to support long-term growth and consistent publishing standards.
- Developed a repeatable production “microsite” model, where each show functions as a centralized hub for ticketing, schedules, reviews, media, cast & crew, and related content.
- Structured relational connections across 350+ artist biographies and decades of productions to improve archival discoverability and reduce redundancy.
- Integrated the Artistic Director’s blog dynamically with production archives to maintain narrative continuity across seasons.
Revenue & Platform Infrastructure
- Designed and implemented integrated ticketing, commerce, and donation systems that contributed to a 30% increase in online revenue and record-breaking annual sales.
- Structured user journeys to support both artistic storytelling and transactional clarity.
Governance & Ongoing Stewardship
- Serve as sole administrator responsible for site maintenance, performance optimization, and technical troubleshooting.
- Conduct ongoing QA and media management, ensuring video integrity, image optimization (including modern formats), and performance best practices.
- Refine HTML/CSS structure to support load speed, accessibility, and search visibility.
- Apply production-specific branding within a consistent system framework, balancing creative variation with structural coherence.
- Provide internal training and documentation to support sustainable publishing workflows.
Impact
- 27k distinct sessions/year
- 30% increase in online revenue
- Record-breaking annual sales
- A scalable digital archive spanning 20+ years of productions and 350+ artists
