The Bedford Devil Campaign

Campaign branding and art direction

I ran the campaign for The Bedford Devil, a 25-minute comedy from Kitefliers Studios: the key art, festival and on-demand promotion, DVD packaging, mailers, and the film’s website. I also directed and co-wrote the film, so the identity grew from the same vision as the story. It borrows from pulp paperbacks and drive-in posters to sell the joke at a glance: a murder mystery played for laughs.

Movie poster for The Bedford Devil. A red-haired woman in a green polka-dot dress looks up at the camera, holding a green disc stamped DIE. Beside her, three blue-tinted film stills are labeled Murder!, Mystery!!, and Rubber Duckies!!!, under a cream pulp-style title and the line a who-didn't from Kitefliers Studios, with credits at the bottom.
Key art: a pulp-style title, a smiling suspect, and three panels promising murder, mystery, and rubber duckies.

The Challenge

The Bedford Devil is a “who-didn’t”: a murder mystery in which every suspect wants credit for the killings. The campaign had to make that comedy clear in a single image, then carry it across festival promotion, packaging, mailers, social media, and on-demand release.
